Dear Julia,
I saw your article in the Washington Post and was delighted to discover that you are Barbara’s and Dennis’s daughter. When you were living in Chiang Mai, Frank and I were posted to Changwat Nan, in the mountains on the Lao border, and Dennis was Frank’s supervisor. He would visit often. I do remember your wonderful home in Chiang Mai (Did it belong to the American Consulate at that time?), and your gracious mother entertaining many visitors (sometimes running out to the noodle seller to supplement that night’s meal.) Your mother was an amazing woman, full of energy and delight! Did she spark your interest in textiles?
Please remember us to your father. Is he still living in Kentucky?
When we were posted to Nan, we were newly married and expecting our son, who was born in Bangkok. My maiden name is Brennan, so I was thrilled to have a connection to that quintessential Irishman, Dennis.
So good to read about you.
Fondly,
Frank and Judy Kenefick
